FIRE RESTRICTIONS ARE IN EFFECT THROUGHOUT SUMMIT COUNTY AND IN THE ADJACENT NATIONAL FOREST LANDS. Open fires are allowed only in permanent fire rings in designated campgrounds and in backyard fire pits approved by the fire department, including mandatory use of an ember screen.
In HIGH fire danger, wildfires are likely. Fires in heavy, continuous fuel, such as mature grassland, weed fields and forest litter will be difficult to control under windy conditions. Control through direct attack may be difficult but possible, and mop up will be required.
