Dorton’s day dousing fires: A Summit County 21-year-old gets a special surprise from a local fire district (Summit Daily News)

There are very few people in Summit County as well-versed in fire safety and the ins and outs of firefighting as local fire departments. Jessy Dorton is one of those people. Generally sporting a neon work vest and always carrying years of fire safety knowledge in his mind, 21-year-old Jessy takes it upon himself to ensure the people around him are always safe. Jessy lives with a developmental disability and if it isn’t apparent yet, his special interest is firefighting. Jessy has done inspections on fire extinguishers, put out small fires and just added a new accolade to his repertoire: using a crane to put out a fire while 100 feet up in the air.
