Discarded cigarette likely sparked small wildfire off I-70 as blazes in Colorado, US tie up federal resources (Summit Daily News)

A discarded cigarette is suspected of starting a small wildfire in grass along Interstate 70 in Ten-Mile Canyon last week, but it was kept in check by the crew of a passing pressure-washing truck, which used water to douse the flames until firefighters arrived. Meanwhile, a number of wildfires across Colorado and throughout the West are causing firefighting resources to be spread thin just as Summit County enters its typically hotter and dryer part of summer.  Read more ...
