2025 April 15 update

Big news! The safety fences have come down around our new fire station in Silverthorne, and, after the last of the building inspections, we were provided with a temporary certificate of occupancy, signifying the end of major construction! You'll even start to see our engines and ambulances parked there on occasion as Summit Fire & EMS crews work to move in furnishings and make the place "home." There's still some leftover paving work and all of the landscaping to complete on the outside later this spring, and minor fixtures and what-not on the inside before we move in. We're grateful for our partners at SEH Architecture and Hyder Construction, who have created what we think is an attractive, stylish building and kept things on time and on budget. Remember when we broke ground almost exactly a year ago? It was April 10, 2024!
Over the next six weeks, we'll be busy supplying the station and figuring out stuff like which pots and pans go in which cupboards, the best orientation of the crew beds in the simple bedrooms and raising Ol' Glory, but we're close! And remember, we'll have a formal Grand Opening — open to the public and free — at 1:30 p.m. on June 4!
